Author: Lois Lowry
Genre: Historical fiction
Summary: This book is mainly about one little girl named Annemarie. She was 12 years old, and she had a very best friend named Ellen. That year the war started and the Nazis were going to kill all the Jewish people. Guess what? Annemarie's best friend Ellen was Jewish. The soldiers said that people could not hide there Jewish friends. Annemarie was not Jewish, only her friend. The 2 best friends and Annemarie's mom went to another house where her mom's friend lived and they went there so the soldiers could not find Ellen.
Review: I liked this book because it was kind of fun. But it was scary because probably they could find Ellen and her parents.

Iris, I'm so glad that you enjoyed reading this book. It is one of my all time favorites! I hope that you will keep this story in mind when you begin to study the Holocaust in your social studies class. Keep reading!
ReplyDeleteIris, I really enjoyed reading your account of Number the Stars. It is a really good book. I read it when my daughters were in middle school. Have you read any other books about the holocaust like The Diary of Anne Frank? Have you been to the Holocaust Museum downtown? The website for it is here http://www.hmh.org/ It is a very interesting place to visit and find out about those horrible times.
